Food For Thought: Hunger in Pennsylvania

Food insecurity across Pennsylvania, including right here in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania, continues to rise at an alarming rate. More families, children, seniors, and individuals are struggling to put nutritious meals on the table, and local food banks are working tirelessly to keep up with the growing need. While our region is fortunate to have compassionate organizations and volunteers dedicated to fighting hunger every day, they cannot do it alone. Additional support and resources are needed now more than ever.

That’s why on May 28 & 29, WVIA is proud to once again join forces with Weis Markets, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, and the CEO Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank for our special Spring Food-Raising Campaign. We’ll be live on the air with representatives from our partner organizations sharing stories about the growing need in our region, the impact these food banks are making every day, and how your support helps local families facing food insecurity.

Now through May 29th, your support can make twice the impact. Every gift made to WVIA will be matched with a donation of food, up to $35,000, thanks to the generosity of Weis Markets.
